Robert Poole


I am a passionate and experienced leader in the agribusiness, food and fibre sector. I grew up on our family farm and studied agricultural science and business leadership. I have worked for many outstanding agri-businesses across finance, genetics, policy and operations. My goal is to ensure that our client’s current and/or future investments in agri-business and food are profitable and sustainable.

Nine years as Executive General Manager Supplier Relations at Murray Goulburn Co-operative Limited (MG). This was a dynamic environment with a complex supply chain from farm and milk procurement, logistics, manufacturing, planning, sales and marketing – in Australia and around the world. My role included milk supply, rural retail, corporate affairs and governance. This included listing on the ASX and large corporate proposals – mergers and acquisitions.

Six years as a leader and director of companies including Deputy Chairman of the Australian Dairy industry Council (ADIC) developing industry strategic plans – was also responsible for the appointment of the Board of Dairy Australia and the annual review of the Dairy Australia strategic and operational plans.
Extensive direct corporate experience in sales and marketing into southeast Asia and China including Chairman of Tasmania Dairy Products (joint venture with Mitsubishi Corporation) and led the Australian industry negotiations in several free trade agreements including China, Japan and Trans Pacific Partnership.

Extensive food manufacturing and domestic retail experience including relationships with major supermarket accounts.
Extensive policy experience representing farmers in key matters including emissions trading; water policy, animal welfare and industrial relations. This includes an intimate understanding of rural communities and their needs and challenges.
Direct farming experience via the operation of family dairy, beef, wool, lamb and grain operations.
